Still charging from a standard powerpoint?
That works for some drivers in the short term, but for many Melbourne households it is too slow and too limiting.
You buy the EV, then the real questions start.
Will your switchboard handle it?
Do you need a dedicated circuit?
Is single-phase enough?
Should you install a Tesla charger or a universal charger?
Can your setup work with the rest of your home’s load?
We see this all the time. Homeowners want a clean, reliable charging setup, but end up getting mixed messages and vague quotes.
Laius Electrics sorts that out properly.
We assess your home, explain what your electrical system can support, and install your EV charger safely and neatly. No sales waffle. Just proper advice and solid electrical work.

Why Melbourne homeowners choose Laius Electrics for EV charger installation
Licensed A-grade electrician in Victoria, so that your EV charger installation is done safely and properly
Work completed to AS/NZS 3000:2018, so that your installation meets current wiring rules
Certificate of Electrical Safety where required, so that you have the right compliance paperwork
Clear, upfront quotes, so that you know what you’re paying for before work starts
Tidy cable runs and neat finishes, so that the final install looks clean and professional
Direct contact with Andrey, so that you’re dealing with the person who will actually do the job
Practical advice on charger setup and home capacity, so that you choose what suits your property
Trusted by local homeowners and businesses, so that you’re not rolling the dice on an unknown installer
What’s included in an EV charger installation assessment
We look at the real-world details before we touch the job.
That may include:
Your EV make and model
Charger type
Switchboard condition
Available electrical capacity
Cable run distance
Charger location
Garage or driveway layout
Existing circuits and household demand
Access issues for townhouses, units, or body corporate properties
Here’s what that means: we don’t just slap a charger on the wall and hope for the best. We check what your home can handle first.
How it works
1. Tell us about your EV and your home
Call Andrey or send an enquiry with your suburb, vehicle type, and whether you already have a charger in mind.
2. We assess the installation requirements
We check your switchboard, electrical capacity, charger location, and any extra work needed.
3. We install, test and run you through it
Once approved, we complete the installation, test the charger, and explain the setup clearly before sign-off.
A rough EV charger install can create bigger headaches later.
We’ve seen plenty of jobs where corners were cut — poor cable runs, messy placement, little thought given to load, or no proper explanation to the homeowner.
That’s a shocker, especially with something you’re relying on every day.
A proper installation gives you:
safer charging
better day-to-day convenience
cleaner presentation
confidence your home setup is fit for purpose
If your switchboard is older, or your home has a lot already running, it pays to get the electrical side checked properly before adding a charger.
